There’s been stirrings since yesterday of a newly introduced vegan menu item at Chipotle in Dupont Circle. Today Justin and I set out to find the truth, and I’m pleased to report our findings.Chipotle is now offering what they are calling a “Garden Blend” ingredient in their meat area, which is a vegan blend of proteins, gains and vegetables prepared with their Adobo sauce. Served as finely chopped pieces (sometimes more like flecks), I found it to be spicy, slightly salty, and a lot like braised “Chicken of the Woods” mushrooms; light and a little spongy in the middle but crunchy around the edges.

For right now, Chipotle seems to only be offering it in DC. Hopefully, it’ll catch on, similar to Burger King’s veggie burgers.
